The 2020 application period has closed.
Session Logistics:
Due to COVID-19 considerations, this five-month training opportunity has been reimagined: the first two sessions in August and September will convene virtually, and we’ll remain flexible for the remaining session dates to adhere to social distancing requirements and best practices. We are prepared to convene later sessions virtually if necessary.
Who Should Apply:
This program is open to Michigan women with a demonstrated interest in serving as local government chief executives.
Program Cost:
We are proud of our commitment to keep this opportunity financially accessible. This five-month training is supported by the Michigan Municipal League along with a number of generous sponsors – and is provided cost-free to selected participants.
Application Requirements:
Complete application (online form) including supporting documents.
Application & Acceptance Timeline:
Applications for the 2020 Women’s Municipal Leadership Program will be accepted until July 22. Chosen applicants will be notified in early August.
Participation Expectation:
WMLP is a competitive program, with significantly more qualified applicants than spots available. For those accepted, the program incorporates practical topic education, personal leadership development, and interactive dialogue that rely on active participation for best results. For these reasons, participation in all five sessions is expected.
